Late 19th Century Chinoiserie Quadrille Game Token Boxes on Tray - Free Shipping
A beautiful set of four hand painted, lacquered wood boxes meant to hold gaming tokens for the game Quadrille, fits on a matching painted tray. Each one of the boxes is an expertly painted miniature of Chinese boys playing outdoors with mythical birds or bubbles.
This set has a strong Chinoiserie style, a European decorative style from the 17th and 18th centuries that imitates and interprets Chinese art and culture, characterized by motifs like pagodas, dragons, birds, and floral landscapes.
Interiors of boxes are lined with embossed paper.

In very good condition with natural gentle wear to decorations and interior of boxes.
