Athena was the goddess of wisdom and knowledge in classical Greek mythology and this image of the Owl of Athena is from ancient Greek silver coins. The letters AOE are an abbreviation for "of the Athenians". Unsigned, but other pieces resembling this one have been identified as being from the Newlyn School, in Cornwall England.
Note: The coloration is mutable. The copper color is brighter in bright lights, and duller in lower lighting. You can polish this if desired.

Has natural dark patina and is in very good condition, with leather cord for hanging.
