Vintage Carved Rootwood Asian Deity Shoulao and Petrified Wood
This unmissable carved wood figure of Shoulao, the Asian God of Longevity is the most striking I've ever seen. In Daoist belief, the exaggerated cranium is a symbol of immense wisdom, refined life energy, and connection to the cosmos. He is complemented by a smaller carving of a monk-like figure and a nice piece of polished and rough sided petrified wood. Expertly carved out of rootwood to show the denser wood for the head and the looser layers for the base.
